Police interview driver in Beaumont hit and run fatality

Beaumont police say charges are pending against the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit and run fatality crash in west Beaumont. The driver came to the police station at about noon and investigators conducted an interview. Police say at 1:45 a.m. Saturday, the driver of a black 2016 Acura MDX was traveling westbound in the 4700 block of Phelan and was struck by an unknown make or model, gold SUV. The driver of the SUV was traveling eastbound on Phelan and was making a left turn onto Calder. The driver of the black Acura lost control, flipped several times, and was ejected. The driver of the gold SUV fled the scene, according to police. The driver who died is identified as Sebastian C. Leith, 39, of Beaumont. Justice of the Peace Ben Collins Sr. has ordered an autopsy.
