Police arrive to find wrecked van abandoned

Jasper Police and Sheriff's Deputies were at last word, still looking for the driver of a van that crashed out on Sunday afternoon on the west side of Jasper. Police and other emergency crews were dispatched to the location on Live Oak Lane, not far from Willow Drive, shortly before 5:00, when it was reported that 2005 Chevrolet van had left the road and ran into trees and a large embankment. Officers arrived to find the vehicle abandoned and no one there. However, witnesses reported seeing a man and woman outside the vehicle following the crash. What happened is not clear, but officers believe the vehicle was headed north on Live Oak, when it for some unknown reason went off of the road and struck a tree, causing it to turn around and slide backwards next to the road. Who was driving or riding in the vehicle is still not known. However, the registration listed an owner here in the Jasper Area.
