Local resident injured in Sunday afternoon auto crash

An elderly Jasper woman was injured in a two-vehicle auto accident that occurred just after noon Sunday on Highway 190 West in front of the Lowe's Home Improvement Store. Police have not completed their report, but it appeared that the accident occurred as a 2010 Toyota Sedan was headed west on Highway 190 and was struck by a late model Chevrolet Pickup truck that was pulling out from Premier Drive, which is between Lowes and Walmart. The volunteers of the Jasper Fire Department quickly arrived at the scene and helped to free the woman from the Toyota. The driver of the Chevrolet, a Newton man, was not injured, but was shook up. The woman was taken by ambulance to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital, where she was at last word, still undergoing treatment.
