RAPIDES PARISH, La. (KALB) - Louisiana State Police Troop E reported on August 21 that a woman from Pineville was killed in a two-vehicle crash on I-49. The crash reportedly claimed the life of Christy Johnson, 48, of Pineville. Troopers responded to the scene on I-49, near Hwy 121, at around 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday. There they determined that Johnson had been traveling south on I-49 in the outside lane. For reasons not yet known, her vehicle collided with a stopped car in the outside lane. The car was purportedly pulled over due to congested traffic from an earlier wreck. Johnson was taken to a local hospital and was later pronounced dead. The other driver was wearing a seatbelt, was minorly injured and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Routine toxicology samples were taken for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
