The Sabine County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a Pineland man following a shooting that occurred in Bronson and left another man wounded.
Daily News & More in Hemphill has obtained the arrest affidavit which says that deputies responded to a location on Highway 96 just north of Bronson shortly after midnight on Sunday, March 27th where they found James Westhead with a gunshot wound that entered his back and exited his chest. He was transported to a hospital in Nacogdoches and is expected to recover.
The affidavit said the investigation led them to 29-year-old Raven Ramon Brooks, 29, of Pineland. He was later arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury, Aggravated Kidnapping Causing Bodily Injury, and Criminal Conspiracy. He is being held under a $325,000.00 bond.
The affidavit also said that a boy and girl, both 14 years of age, were also involved and the suspect allegedly wouldn’t let her mother take her, which resulted in the kidnapping charge.
