A Tennessee pilot was killed after his single-engine plane crashed Monday night in a remote, wooded area of Lafayette County, authorities said.
The Lafayette County Sheriff's Office received a report of a possible downed aircraft near Arkansas Highway 29 around 9:30 p.m. Monday. An Arkansas State Police helicopter located the wreckage of the 2021 Lancair Super Barracuda around 3:30 a.m.
The pilot and sole occupant was identified as Barry Boes, 54, of Ooltewah, Tennessee. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to authorities, the plane had departed from Austin, Texas, and was heading to Chattanooga, Tennessee.
