The volunteers of the Beech Grove Fire Department were dispatched to the section of Highway 190 crossing Dam B, between Jasper and Woodville, shortly before midnight on Sunday evening, when it was reported that a late model Nissan pickup truck had hit the guardrail on a bridge.
Firemen arrived at the scene to find parts and pieces from the truck scattered across the Highway. However, the driver, a Jasper man, who was already out of the vehicle was not injured.
What happened is not clear, but it appeared that the truck which was westbound on Highway 190 may have drifted over and struck a guardrail, causing severe damage to the pickup.
Following investigation of the incident, the driver of the vehicle, who has not been identified by officers, was taken into custody and taken to the Jasper County Jail where they will be asking that he be charged with Driving While Intoxicated.
