Phone service restored in Farrsville, investigation continues into theft of cable

Newton County Sheriff Robert Burby announced Friday that landline telephone service has been restored to the Farrsville Community. Meanwhile, he says the investigation into who stole a long line of telephone cable is continuing. The crime occurred on Friday, February 2nd. The sheriff says 867 feet of cable was stolen, and at least one pole was damaged and had to be replaced with a new one. According to Burby, it’s estimated that the crime will cost Windstream Communications $7,000.00 to $10,000.00.
