The Sabine River Authority has announced that phase 1 of an improvement project in the Pendleton Harbor Community is now complete, and work crews will now begin phase 2. Phase 1 was the implementation of a large parking lot and boat ramps, creating the Pendleton Recreational Area on the north side of Highway 21 at the water’s edge. The recreational area features an asphalt parking lot, four-lane boat ramps, a kayak launch, and a 340’ jetty. Phase 2 will see the installation of a covered pavilion, restroom facilities, playground equipment, picnic areas, a boardwalk, and a swim beach area. This is projected to be complete by or during the summer.
