Person struck by a train in Lufkin

Lufkin Police are investigating after a man was struck by a train Thursday morning. City of Lufkin spokeswoman Jessica Pebsworth says it happened shortly before 10:00 on Union Pacific tracks in the southwest side of town. Pebsworth said the man was transported to a Lufkin hospital where it was later determined that he had suffered a broken arm. However, the name of the man was not released. It happened at the railroad crossing at the intersection of Pershing Avenue and Feagin Drive, and Pebsworth said that intersection was blocked while police and railroad officials investigated. Pebsworth said the man told police that he was walking home from a nearby convenience store and attempted to beat the train to prevent standing in the rain for an unknown amount of time while the train passed. Meanwhile, Isaacks was indicted on the state level in both Jasper and Sabine Counties on multiple counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and Indecency with a Child. Anne Pickle says the state had a trial planned to start on March 20th, but she explained that Isaacks is now in federal custody and the state must wait for federal proceedings to conclude before they can move forward.
