PALESTINE, Texas (KTRE) - A 20-year-old Palestine man was killed around 3 p.m. Tuesday after a crash involving his motorcycle and an SUV, according to Palestine police.
When officers arrived, they found the 20-year-old Palestine man unresponsive in the road following a crash between his motorcycle and an SUV driven by a 72-year-old Montalba man, who was treated and released at the scene.
First responders attempted life-saving measures at the scene of the wreck, which occurred on Old Elkhart Road near Academy Sports in Palestine, a police spokesperson said in a Facebook post.
Based on witness statements and an investigation, officers determined the SUV was traveling southbound, preparing to turn into the west entrance of the Palestine Mall, when the motorcycle collided with the SUV as it turned into the entrance, according to police.
The motorcycle was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed, and the driver’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, police said.
