Ore City man found not guilty of 2021 murder

GILMER, Texas (KLTV) - An Upshur County jury has acquitted a man of murder. According to First Assistant District Attorney for the county of Upshur Barry Wallace, Robert Lee Travis of Ore City has been declared not guilty of the murder of Braiden Ray Robinson. The incident occurred on May 1, 2021. Travis and Robinson knew each other, and according to an arrest affidavit, Travis admitted to shooting Robinson multiple times with a handgun. On Friday, a jury found Travis not guilty of murder. According to Wallace, the Upshur County jury delivered a not guilty verdict after four days of proceedings. It was determined that Travis acted in defense of his family and property, and he was acquitted following three hours of deliberation by the jury, according to his defense.
