The Orange Police Department says they have arrested a man who was involved in a crime spree, during which he shot at officers during a high-speed chase. According to a statement from Orange Police, it all began in the early morning hours on Tuesday when they responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at a business, and the suspect used a firearm to gain entry into the business. A short time later, police said they spotted the stolen vehicle behind another business, but the suspect took off in the vehicle fleeing from officers and firing at them with a shotgun. Police say the chase ended when the suspect wrecked the stolen vehicle and he then fled on foot. According to police, they were able to identify him as Chadwick McMillen, and they tracked him down to an apartment complex in Orange. However, he refused to come out and a standoff ensued, lasting for about four hours when he finally surrendered. Orange Police say McMillen's crime spree included the following criminal activity:
- Stolen vehicle from West Orange-Stark ISD
- Intentional damage at a Valero Gas Station
- Stolen vehicle from Frey's Nursery
-Stolen trailer and intentional damage at My Garage Self Storage
- Evading arrest with a vehicle
- Felon in possession of a firearm
