The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Easter District of Texas has announced that an Orange native has pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $300,000.00 from a school district in East Texas. Prosecutors say 38-year-old Brandon Delane Looney was employed as the business manager for Trinidad ISD in Henderson County when he stole the money, and then used it for, among other things, lavish trips to Disney World and spending sprees at Disney Stores. According to prosecutors, the thefts occurred from 2017 until 2023. At sentencing, prosecutors say Looney faces up to 10 years in federal prison, a potential fine, and mandatory restitution to be paid to Trinidad ISD.
