The U.S. Attorneys Office for the Eastern District of Texas has announced that an Orange man has entered a guilty plea to trafficking fentanyl, and they also say that a woman in the Houston area died after using the drugs that he sold to her. Prosecutors say 38-year-old Lawrence Duguett Hardin, Jr. pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Zack Hawthorn on a charge of Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl. This comes after the August 17th, 2023 death of a 22-year-old woman in Humble. Prosecutors also said that when law enforcement raided Hardin’s home, they found just under a pound of fentanyl and three-quarters of a pound of cocaine. At sentencing, Hardin faces up to 40 years in federal prison.
