OPELOUSAS, La. (KALB) - An Opelousas man has been arrested on several charges after a report of a 6-year-old child found with multiple lacerations and stab wounds, according to the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.

SLPSO said they received the call on June 1 about the child, who had injuries to the face, neck and chest areas. The child was taken to a hospital in Opelousas, then airlifted to a hospital in Baton Rouge with life-threatening injuries.

Patrick Seth Greene, 37, was arrested. SLPSO said he was combative with officers but was taken into custody and charged with domestic abuse battery with child endangerment, two counts of aggravated assault and resisting an officer. SLPSO said more charges are pending.

“Our Juvenile Detectives are actively investigating this incident and will be filing additional charges,” said Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz. “Our profound sympathies are with the family and our prayers are for the young child.”
