One person injured in two vehicle auto accident at Zion Hill

One person was injured in a two-vehicle auto accident that occurred on Tuesday evening at the Zion Hill Community, south of Jasper. The volunteers of the Tri-Community Fire Department from Magnolia Springs and other emergency personnel were dispatched to the location at the intersection of Highway 96 and Farm to Market Road 1005, shortly after 7:00, when it was reported that the crash involving a small car and an early model pickup truck had occurred. Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Shana Clark said Summer Sooley, 34, of Jasper, was driving a 1999 Dodge truck northbound followed by a 2019 Kia Rio, driven by Dallas Kirkland, 30, of Hemphill. Clark said it was reported that Kirkland was fatigued and struck the rear of the Dodge. The Kia then traveled off the road to the right where it overturned. Sooley and her 7-year-old passenger were not injured, while Kirkland was transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
