One person injured in Saturday evening auto crash at Roganville

One person is reported to be undergoing hospital treatment for the injuries he received in a one vehicle auto accident that occurred on County Road 434 near Roganville on Saturday evening. Jasper County Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Mike Smith, who also serves as the chief of the Roganville Volunteer Fire Department, said he and other emergency crews were called to the location shortly before 8:00, when it was reported that the auto accident had occurred. Smith said firemen had to use the hydraulic device known as the jaws of life to rescue the driver from the small vehicle. He said the driver was transported to the nearby Roganville Fire Department and loaded into a helicopter which took him to the hospital. He said two passengers in the vehicle were not injured. Texas DPS were called to investigate the accident. It is unknown what caused the accident, but it appeared that the small pick up truck was traveling at a high rate of speed, when it went off the road and turned over. The name of the driver or other information is not available pending completion of an investigation into the incident.
