The Texas Department of Public Safety confirms a 41-year-old man from China in west Jefferson County died after he crossed over into the other lane on State Highway 105 and struck a pickup truck head-on between Tram Road and Keith Road in Jefferson County.
The DPS preliminary crash investigation indicates that at about 4 a.m., the driver of a Toyota 4-Runner was traveling west and the driver of a Chevrolet pickup was traveling east. It is reported that the Toyota crossed over into the oncoming lane and struck the Chevrolet head-on.
The driver of the Toyota, identified as a 41-year-old man from China in west Jefferson County, died at the scene.
The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as a 33-year-old man from Sour Lake, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of suspected serious injuries.
This is an ongoing investigation and no further information is available.
Jefferson County Sheriff's Office deputies were on scene for traffic control. Both sides of the highway were closed for the crash investigation.
