A teenage girl is dead and two people were at last word still undergoing treatment following an early Monday morning collision in Newton County.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says that shortly after midnight the driver of an SUV was traveling north on Highway 87, south of Burkeville, when the vehicle went around a curve at an unsafe speed, slid off the road and overturned.
One passenger, a 16-year-old girl, was pronounced dead at the scene by a Newton County Justice of the Peace.
The driver and a second passenger of the vehicle were taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The DPS continues investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
