One person is dead after a pickup truck and an 18-wheeler crashed on La. 14.
The crash happened east of the La. 14 and Harrington Road intersection near Bell City at approximately 2 p.m., LSP spokesman Derek Senegal said.
Robert Allen Elliott, 41, of Gueydon was driving the 2015 Dodge pickup truck and died in the crash.
A preliminary investigation revealed Elliott crossed the centerline while traveling west on La. 14, Senegal said.
The 18-wheeler, a 2005 Peterbilt grain hauler, was traveling east at the same time and attempted to avoid the pickup by steering into the westbound lane, Senegal said. As the 18-wheeler did this, however, Elliot steered his pickup into the westbound lane and hit the 18-wheeler head-on.
Both drivers were properly restrained. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.
