Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

Officers from the Jasper County Sheriff's Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety are investigating the discovery of a sport utility vehicle that was found wrecked out and abandoned early Wednesday morning on County Road 98, just past the end of Farm to Market Road 2800. Officers were dispatched to the location shortly before 6:00, when it was reported that the vehicle was found upside down in the roadway, just past Indian Creek. Who was driving the vehicle and where they went was not known. However, it appeared that the SUV which was thought to be traveling west, went off the road and hit a tree before coming back onto the roadway and turned over. Sources say that a person was brought into the emergency room at Jasper Memorial Hospital prior to the discovery of the overturned vehicle. However, word is that there may have been another accident in the area at the same time. The volunteers of the Jasper Fire Department were dispatched to scene to assist.
