No injuries in crash involving Jasper County Sheriffs Department patrol car

On Saturday, an on-duty Sheriff's officer was traveling through Kirbyville when the vehicle he was driving was involved in an accident. The crash occurred shortly after 7:00 on Hwy 96 in front of the Sonic Drive In as the deputy was responding to assist a state trooper who was involved in a pursuit. Preliminary information is that the sheriff's patrol vehicle collided with a Chevrolet truck. Jasper County Information Officer Karli Cherry stated that no injuries were reported from either vehicle.  Traffic on the southbound lanes was diverted to the left lane.  DPS is investigating the accident and will update us as more information becomes available. It was the second time within a month that a vehicle belonging to law enforcement was involved in an accident in Kirbyville. Just over a week ago, a Kirbyville Police Unit was involved in a minor crash. However, no injuries resulted from the incident.
