VERNON PARISH, La. (KPLC) - A lockdown was lifted at Fort Polk this afternoon, after officials responded to a reported potential security threat.
The installation gate was locked down, so no one could enter or leave.
“Out of an abundance of caution, installation access control points were temporarily closed while law enforcement conducted a thorough search of the area,” Fort Polk officials said.
Authorities found no evidence of a credible threat, and the base has returned to normal operations, Fort Polk officials said.
Vernon Parish Sheriff Sam Craft confirmed there was no danger on the base. He shared that reports of a shooting there were not credible.
