Newton murder suspects out of jail on bond

Newton County Sheriff Colton Havard confirmed on Wednesday that the two suspects who were recently arrested and charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of a DeRidder woman had been released from jail after making arraignments to post bail.

According Havard Tevin Sells, 27 of Jasper was released after $750,000 was posted by Robinson Bail Bonds of Jasper and Dionte Johnson, 29 of Newton was released after $750,000 was posted by American Bonding Company of Newton.

The two are charged with the shooting death of 22-year-old Asia Marie Scott, which occurred at a location known as "The Hill" on the north side of Newton on Sunday January 11th.

Bond on both suspects was set by Newton County Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Mike Greer.
