JASPER, Texas (KTRE) - A Newton man has pleaded guilty to a prom afterparty shooting that left nine teens injured in 2023. Cameron Hartsfield, 20, is one of four men indicted in the April 23, 2023, shooting that left nine teens aged 15 to 19 with gunshot wounds. The incident occurred at a prom afterparty on CR 263 north of Jasper and was believed to have been the result of an “ongoing feud,” according to authorities. Hartsfield pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and deadly conduct on Tuesday in a Jasper County court. He received five years' confinement for the assault charge and eight for deadly conduct. The sentences are to be served concurrently. Hartsfield and his codefendants, Cheston Hartsfield, Tracy Hickman and Tyler Porter, all of Newton, were indicted by a grand jury in June of 2023. Cameron Hartsfield has two additional charges of engaging in organized criminal activity pending dismissal. Cheston Hartsfield, Hickman and Porter are set to appear in court on Nov. 5.
