Newton County Sheriff Robert Burby says a Friday traffic stop turned up drugs and resulted in two arrests. Burby says the stop was made on Highway 190 in the Bon Wier Community. According to Burby, deputies arrested the driver of the Ford Ranger pickup truck, Shawn Love, 48, and the passenger, Le Roy Lewis, 44. Love with charged with 3 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and 1 count of Possession of Marijuana. His bond was set at a combined total of $21,000.00. Love remains in the Newton County Jail. Lewis was charged with 1 count of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Lewis is currently free on bond.
