Newton County Sheriff Robert Burby said Sunday that a man from the Toledo Bend Area is undergoing treatment for the injury received in an accidental shooting that occurred late Saturday evening at a home in the 200 block of Tall Timbers. According to Burby, the man was first treated at the scene just before midnight by first responders from the Toledo Bend Fire Department before being transported by ambulance to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital where he underwent additional treatment before being transferred to a hospital in the Houston Area where he was at last word listed in critical condition. The name of the shooting victim and other information has not been released as an investigation into the incident continues.
