A Newton County man has been arrested in Vernon Parish on multiple charges. The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Department says agents with the Vernon Parish Narcotics Task Force made a traffic stop in the Evans Community and arrested Akeem Jackson, 38, of Wiergate, after an ounce of methamphetamine was found in his vehicle. However, the report says that Jackson tried to flee and then resisted arrest so deputies had to wrestle him into custody. Jackson was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Schedule II Narcotic with Intent to Distribute, Flight from an Officer, and Resisting an Officer. At last word he remained in the Vernon Parish Jail in Leesville.
