New details learned after stolen truck recovery and arrest in Newton County

Newton County Precinct 4 Constable Howie Wonders has released new details after the weekend recovery of a stolen vehicle and arrest. Wonders said it happened shortly after 2:00 Saturday morning when he noticed a pickup truck sitting on railroad tracks along County Road 4205. Wonders said after getting the driver to get off the tracks, he then learned that the truck was stolen out of Corpus Christi. Wonders has identified the driver as 51-year-old James Tracy Lunsford, of Vidor. He was arrested and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, and he was also wanted for Prohibited Substance in a Correctional Facility. Bond on Lunsford has been set at $15,000.00. According to Wonders, the discovery of the stolen truck and arrest of Lunsford resulted in information leading to the recovery of a stolen trailer. However, Wonders said a stolen John Deere riding mower associated with the trailer has not yet been found.
