NATCHITOCHES, La. -- A Natchitoches police officer is recovering after suffering a facial fracture during an arrest Tuesday. The officer was taken to the Natchitoches hospital but required additional treatment at a Shreveport hospital. He's since been released. NPD arrested Demontray Pier, 24, on charges of battery of a police officer, resisting a police officer with force or violence and criminal trespass. Police said the officer was injured as he and others responded to Super 1 Foods on Keyser Avenue to remove someone who had been banned from the property. They found Pier inside the store's restroom smoking a cigarette. He started to fight them when he was told he was under arrest, police said. Pier was placed in the LaSalle Corrections in Natchitoches.
