MANSFIELD, La. -- So far, foul play is not suspected in the discovery early this morning of a body on U.S. Highway 84 in Mansfield, according to the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office.
The woman’s body was found in a ditch east of the Mansfield Elementary-Middle School complex. The school is closed this week because of winter break.
The woman is described as being in her late 50s or early 60s. The body was sent for an autopsy.
The sheriff's office said the woman does not appear to be from the DeSoto Parish area.
No identification or other details will be released until next of kin is notified.
