NATCHITOCHES, La. (KALB) - Natchitoches Police Department reported that Christopher Braden, 33, of Natchitoches was arrested in connection to a vehicle theft in the 200 block of Ainsley Street.

Authorities said they received reports of the stolen vehicle on March 15, at around 9:20 a.m.

They spoke with the victim who was able to provide officers with a description of the suspect.

While officers searched for the car, they were notified of a single vehicle crash near the area of the theft. Upon arrival, they found a car which matched the stolen vehicle’s description submerged in a nearby swamp. However, no driver was present.

As officers looked for the driver, they received another notification; this time, that a person matching the suspect’s description was attempting to break into cars at a local business.

Upon arrival at the business, officers said they arrested Christopher Braden.

Braden was charged with the following:

  • Theft of a motor vehicle
  • Criminal mischief
  • Simple burglary
  • Reckless operation of a vehicle
  • Hit and run

He was booked into the Sabine Parish Detention Center because the LaSalle Corrections/Natchitoches Parish Detention Center was not accepting inmates at that time.

Anyone with information about this case was asked to contact NPD at (318) 352-8101.
