Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

KTRE 9 News in Lufkin is reporting that a commercial vehicle crash on Friday in Nacogdoches killed the driver and also resulted in a fuel spill. It happened on Farm to Market Road 1638 in the northwest part of that city. The report cited Nacogdoches Assistant Police Chief Dan Taravella as saying that the driver went into the center turning lane and tried to pass other vehicles, but the commercial vehicle then veered off the highway, struck trees, and then rolled over. Taravella said witnesses pulled the driver out of the wrecked truck, and he died at the scene. Meanwhile, firefighters had to deal with diesel fuel that was leaking from the truck.
