SHREVEPORT, La. - First responders are on the scene of a train derailment in downtown Shreveport.

At least a dozen units responded about 1:15 p.m. Monday behind Sci-Port Discovery Center near Clyde Fant Parkway and Lake Street. A witness standing in a nearby parking lot reported the derailment to 911.

SPD says no one is hurt and the train doesn't appear to be carrying anything hazardous. Traffic has not been impacted.

Shreveport fire prevention Officer Jeffrey Witte said the 11 cars that derailed were empty. Total length of the train was about 101 cars.

Cause of the derailment is under investigation by Union Pacific.
