Officials at Village Creek State Park in Lumberton say a staff member recently spotted a mother bobcat and her two kittens. It happened as workers were clearing walking paths that had been damaged by the wind and rain from recent Hurricane Beryl. The bobcat, also known as a “red lynx”, is a very elusive creature and rarely ever seen by humans. They are most active at dusk and dawn. Bobcats are known for their short stubby tails and tufts of hair on their pointed ears. They live in southern Canada, all across the United States, and down into Mexico. Village Creek State Park is the home to more than thirty species of wild animals.
