POWHATAN, La. (KALB) - Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that a single-vehicle crash near Powhatan prompted a multi-agency response and an airlift on November 22.
NPSO deputies, Louisiana State Police, emergency medical services and Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection Districts #6 & #10 responded to the reported crash just after 6 a.m. on Saturday.
Responding crews arrived to find a 20-year-old woman from Minden trapped in the wreckage, with moderate, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Firefighters from NPFD 6 & 10 reportedly used extraction to free the driver. She was then airlifted to a regional trauma center to be treated for her injuries.
After an initial investigation, it was determined that the woman was driving north on Hwy 1 when, for reasons not yet known, her vehicle left the road from the left side and collided with a culvert, which sent the car into the air and caused it to roll several times on the ground.
NPSO said the investigation is ongoing and will be handled by Louisiana State Police Troop E.
