The Tyler County Sheriff's Department says a driver had no driver's license, no insurance, and no valid registration, but what he did have was methamphetamine and that's what landed him in jail on Monday evening. According to Sheriff Bryan Weatherford, his deputies encountered 63-year-old John Phillip Spearman, Sr., of Colmesneil, when they performed a traffic stop on a GMC SUV at the Jiffy Market on Highway 69 in Colmesneil. Weatherford said a search of Spearman's vehicle turned up a plastic baggy that contained meth. He was arrested and later charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, with bond set at $3,500.000n the drug charge and a $638.00 fine on the traffic violations.
