A pair of metal theft suspects were arrested by the Jasper County Sheriff's Department on Wednesday afternoon. According to Sheriff Chuck Havard, it happened at about 1:00 in the north end of the county. Havard said Sergeant Kasey Hawthorne responded to a report of suspicious activity in the area of County Road 245 at Highway 96, near Buck Springs Water. Once on scene, Havard said Hawthorne located two men attempting to pull wire out of the ground. He said it was large telephone wire which was owned by AT&T. The two were arrested and they've been identified as Monte Joseph Rollan, 29, and Cody Allen Mick, 38, both of Jasper. Havard said they're in the Jasper County Jail and are charged with state jail felony level Theft of Material. Rollan and Mick both have extensive arrest records that go back several years.
