- State police are investigating a fatal crash in DeSoto Parish in which Joseph W. Powell, 70, of Marthaville was killed.
Troopers say Powell was driving a pickup northbound on Interstate 49 around 5 p.m. Tuesday near the Kingston exit when his vehicle rear-ended a truck being towed by a wrecker.
Powell, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The wrecker driver was not injured.
