A marsh fire began burning over the weekend in far south Jefferson County near Sabine Pass. The Port Arthur Fire Department had trucks and firefighters staged to protect houses should the blaze approach. It’s the second marsh fire in the region in recent weeks. A marsh fire in Cameron Parish last week burned for several days.
