Jasper Police Chief Garrett Foster said Monday that a man who was wanted in Beaumont had been taken into custody here in Jasper in what he said was a coordinated effort between federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
Foster said the suspect, Anthony Joseph Cascio, of the Beaumont area, was taken into custody within approximately three hours after the Jasper Police Department being notified that the suspect was possibly here in the Jasper area, and assistance was requested by the U.S. Marshals Service to help locate him. According to Foster, the department’s Flock camera system also played a key role in identifying the vehicle and aiding in the rapid location and apprehension of the suspect.
Cascio, who was said to be on parole, was reportedly wanted for tampering with an electronic monitoring device by cutting and removing his court-ordered ankle monitor, and for a parole violation warrant issued by the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles after absconding from supervision.
Foster said officers found Cascio and the vehicle he was allegedly driving in the 100 block of East Gibson Street, where he was arrested without injury or incident and transported to the Jasper County Jail.
Foster said the arrest highlights the continued cooperation of the Southeast Texas Violent Crime Task Force (SETXVCTF), along with federal, state, and local partners—including the Jasper Police Department—in locating and apprehending wanted individuals in the community.
