Jasper County Sheriff Mitchel Newman says his department is investigating after a man was stabbed at a home just west of Kirbyville. It happened shortly before 7:00 Wednesday evening on County Road 422.
Deputies arrived to find a man bleeding heavily from a wound to his upper chest or neck. However, Newman said that Lieutenant Morgan Downs was advised that the nearest ambulance was at least 18 minutes away, so Downs and another deputy loaded the victim in a patrol car and rushed him to Jasper Memorial Hospital.
The names of the victim or the suspect have not been released, or what may have lead up to the incident. Sheriff Newman stressed that the investigation is very early on and more information should be available Thursday morning.
