A Buna man was shot multiple times in the back by a family member during a Tuesday evening argument over property, according to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department. Deputy Karli Cherry says it happened at about 8:00 at a residence on County Road 739. According to Cherry, the 66-year-old victim, who was not named, sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and he was transported by ambulance to a Beaumont hospital where he was treated and later released. Meanwhile, Cherry said the suspect, 51-year-old Samuel Menefee, also of Buna, returned to the scene and was arrested by deputies. He has since been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. His bond has not yet been set.
