Man in critical condition after being shot in the head, suspect arrested

Tyler County Sheriff Bryan Weatherford says a man is hospitalized in critical condition after being shot late Thursday night, and the suspect is in custody. According to Weatherford, deputies responded shortly before midnight to a house on County Road 4770, south of Warren, and arrived to find 36-year-old Earnest Williams outside with a gunshot wound to his head. He was taken to a hospital in Houston. Weatherford said through their investigation, deputies identified 33-year-old Cody Knight as the suspect. At about 5:00 Friday morning, Weatherford said deputies executed a search and arrest warrant at a house on County Road 4400 in the Town Bluff area where they found and arrested Knight. Weatherford said they also found a .22 caliber rifle and took it as evidence. Knight has since been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and his bond has been set at $500,000.00.
