Authorities say a man died on Tuesday morning, when the vehicle he was driving left a roadway on Pleasure Island in Port Arthur and plunged into a waterway. Jefferson County Precinct 7 Justice of the Peace Brad Burnett said the accident occurred shortly after 6:00, when the vehicle the man was driving sideswiped another car and skidded off Highway 82 into the water. What caused the series of events is not known. However, Judge Burnett has called for an autopsy to determine if there were any other factors involved. The name of the deceased has not been released, pending the notification of next of kin.
