SHREVEPORT, La. (July 30, 2026) — Shreveport police arrested a man Tuesday morning after a woman reportedly told her mother she was being held against her will inside a home on Quillen Drive.
Officers were dispatched to the 6400 block of Quillen Drive around 5 a.m. after the victim's mother contacted authorities. The mother told police she had received messages from her daughter claiming she was trapped inside the residence.
When officers arrived and knocked on the door, they reportedly heard a woman yelling for help. The door then opened, and the woman ran outside.
Police said they took Adam Cruz into custody after he allegedly attempted to chase the woman.
Investigators learned of an alleged history of domestic abuse between the two individuals. The victim told officers Cruz was armed with a machete when police arrived.
Officers recovered a machete from inside the residence and arrested Cruz on a charge of false imprisonment.
Detectives say the investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed.
