Jasper County deputies arrested a man Monday morning after they said he was armed with a gun and threatened a man who he accused of being in possession of stolen property. According to the report, it happened at about 8:00 at a home on County Road 451 near Kirbyville.
The report said the man, 43-year-old James Chaney, of Kirbyville, was disarmed by the resident of the home prior to the arrival of deputies.
The report also said that the homeowner was not in possession of any stolen property.
Chaney was arrested and charged with Deadly Conduct and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
