FERRIDAY, La. (KNOE) - The Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office says a CPSO deputy was arrested on Monday, Aug. 11.
CPSO say 22-year-old Drakel S. Carter was arrested on charges of malfeasance in office and simple battery.
Officials say they were called out to investigate a physical altercation that involved an on-duty CPSO deputy on Saturday, Aug. 9.
Their investigation revealed a verbal dispute between Carter and an individual led to the physical altercation.
CPSO says Carter had been employed with them since August 2022, and has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation by the Louisiana State Police.
“The public has a right to know when someone entrusted with upholding the law is charged with violating it,” said Sheriff Hedrick. “An investigation will determine our next steps.”
