Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard said Saturday that a man and woman had been arrested following a confrontation with one his deputies at a home just west of Jasper.

According to Havard, it all began when Deputy Gray was dispatched to a disturbance at a home on County Road 186 near Curtis, where he was reported to have been confronted by a man wielding a garden tool.

Havard said Gray was forced to use a taser and a chemical spray to disable Matthew Giuseppe Lattanzi, 32, of Jasper.

Havard said Matthew Lattanzi was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant and Lourdes Elizabeth Lattanzi, 60, of Woodville was also taken into custody and charged with Interference With Public Duties and both were transported to the Jasper County Jail.

Jailhouse records revealed on Sunday evening that Matthew Lattanzi was still being held, pending formal arraignment. However, Lourdes Elizabeth Lattanzi had been released after making arrangements to post $1,000 bail.
